I have had the same problem I believe.
When trying to import the XServer source tree KDevelop suddenly starts using
memory until the entire VM memory is exhausted (3G in my case).

I untar'ed XFree86 4.4.0
cd xc/programs/Xserver
kdevelop

And then tried to "Import an existing project".
