It could be a problem of MainWindowIDEAl (in kdevelop/src) or a bug of IDEAl 
KTabWidget (in kdevelop/lib/widgets).. hmm, you can try to debug what happen 
when you close a project in kdevelop/src/mainwindowideal.*, kdevelop/src/
mainwindowshare.* and in kdevelop/lib/widgets/ktab*
