Hi JBB - Yes, just a question :-)
You talk about the displaying of files... Do you use a KMdi UI mode or 
just KDevelop-IDEAl?

P.S.: Put KTabBar in a compat namespace similar like in 
lib/qextmdi/*_compat.h/cpp
