Trouble with KFile

I've been trying to get a copy of KDevelop (2.1 and Gideon) working for the 
last week. I've finally got a build of 2.1 that works (hooray!), after I 
rebuilt my KDE3 desktop from the release sources rather than the HEAD tag, 
and then did the same for KDevelop 2.1. Gideon continues to elude me - check 
the error below:

gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/data/src/kdevelop' 
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lkfile 
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status 
gmake[3]: *** [kdevelop] Error 1 

**** END ERROR ****

I've been crawling over my file system trying to work out why I don't have 
this elusive kfile library, but can't figure it out. Any clues would be 
welcome, as this is the last hurdle in my efforts to start work on Gideon 
again.
