Problems debugging with gideon

It's fine to mail this group with stuff like that.  I think that the 
debugger in Gideon is known to be buggy itself as from the # of bug reports 
filed on it.  I don't use gdb much, so I haven't spent any time hacking into 
it.  Hopefully someone will get frustrated enough soon to fix the problems.
