The current 2.1 release (KDE_2_2_BRANCH) still uses a KWrite fork like the
versions before.
KDevelop 2.2 (now also in the MAIN branch) uses Kate as editor.
Gideon (also in the MAIN branch) uses the KTextEditor interface, so you can
plug in any editor you like.
