Can't reproduce that with a 1,2GHz Athlon 256MB here at home.
And it's almost the same with a 900MHz Athlon 256MB at work.
Starting kdevelop plus automatic session loading of kdevelop.kdevprj and
kdevelop.kdevses takes 11 seconds, only.

Loading a source file from disk is immediately here (less than 1 second)

Maybe it's a KDE or Qt problem on SPARC? How much is it using swap
space? Does it also happen with other apps?
