John,

I am now pretty sure I know what happens when I run the debugger. 
It looks like the gdb process never actually returns. This maybe a
problem with gdb5 on Solaris. Do you use your own KProcess instance 
for running the debugger, that would explain why I cant run make
afterwards, or why make never returns either after I ran the debugger. 

I am going to try an older versio of gdb soon.
