If seen it working thw following way in Homesite:

1. Make a selection
2. Click the "fold up" button
3. The textview shows a grey line with the first line and a + sign
which will collaps on click. 

Dunno wether this is also suitable for C(++) Programming, but
I think it's a very flexible way.
