Package: kdevelop
Version: 1.4 (running on KDE libs 2.1.2) (using KDE 2.1.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc (version distributed with SuSE 7.1)
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: I'm using QT 2.3.1, compiled with font antialiasing (this is relevant)
When I've set up KDE to use antialiased fonts (which look great), KDevelop will freeze during linking stage of compilation process. Sometimes, it will just quit. Running KDevelop from command line, I get messages about "X Reported bad drawable" or something along those lines.
I'm using XFree 4.1, installed from SuSE RPMS (I'm running SuSE 7.1).
KDevelop is the only app which is affected by this, as far as I can tell. The rest of KDE runs great, AA text looks wonderful, all is good and the sun shines.
But KDevelop, alone, will *not* run reliably when AA text is turned on.
For testing, I turned AA text off, and KDevelop was fine. Ran solidly for hours and I got lots of work done. I turned AA back on, and KDevelop froze after the third build of a project I'm working on.
Could this be due to KDevelop (which I installed from binary RPMs) being built againt a different QT (Mine is QT2.3.1)? I'm new to linux (I'm an ex BeOS programmer) and am not fully aware/up-to-speed of some of the binary compatibility issues which plague this otherwise peachy OS.
