imap.gmail.com problems?

Hi,

I'm having frequent disconnects from imap.gmail.com since a few months. I don't know if this is related to the fact I'm still using a legacy IMAP client (KMail 4.14) with an app-specific password but today I also had problems after falling back to Thunderbird (latest version) which reported connection (authentication) errors.

Interestingly it doesn't usually concern all my accounts but annoyingly mostly my main account. Which is also the one with the most messages (while I'm writing this it's the other big one that's getting disconnected "in series". I did create a new app-specific pw for my main account this morning, which seems to have helped.

I'm not finding any status information for the service - am I alone in this or have others been seeing problems too?
