Can't suspend reminders for Birthdays/Anniversaries in a Contact

Hi

Is there any reason that suspending a birthday etc that is configured in a contacts' details and gets put into the Birthday calendar cannot be suspended?  It seems to dismiss instead of suspending for the configured time.
