KMail: view unread messages only

I'm one of the many that loved the intuitive and efficient interface of the Opera 12 mail client, and I'm still adhering to it for business mail. As time goes by, however, the pressure increased to find a substitute and KMail looks attractive to me, also because of its integration into the KDE PIM.
The KMail interface claims to be highly configurable, and so I believe that the following issues have a solution, but I can't figure it out on my own. So any help is appreciated.
1) How can I view only unread mail and act on it (e.g., delete it, or mark as read)? Is there a "filtered view"? I tried a filter for the unread status, but without any action, such a filter is not accepted/not configurable. Searching for unread mail works, but I can't delete a message from this view. Further, the search seems to increadibly slow down the interface. While the search is active, retrieving a mail body from IMAP takes very long, > 15 sec until I gave up. The access becomes almost instantaneous again after removing the search view.
2) Can message tags by synchronised across different machines? It was suggested to use IMAP tags, but the feature request seems to be still open:

Am I missing something? It is a real killer feature for productivity.
3) How can I quickly show a single thread? Ideally, I right-click on a mail in flat view and get a view of the the isolated thread.
4) A "quick reply" field as in Opera 12 would be a super useful feature. It almost turns mail into a chat.
I'm using Ubuntu Focal with the KMail version 5.13.3 (19.12.3) with KDE Frameworks 5.68.0 and Qt 5.12.8. I couldn't find any more recent backport of KMail. I have several IMAP accounts, one huge one (~20k mails), and I will be looking forward to automatic archiving, which was missing in Opera.
Thanks for help and for developing KMail,
Felix
