Kmail 4.14.1 seems to have the same option, that is, I can go to KMail /
Settings / Accounts / Retrieval and choose MBox file as the option, which is
described as: "Loads data from a local mbox file."
It appears to me that, if something else puts emails in an mbox file, kmail,
using the facility you describe, can retrieve mail from an mbox folder.
(And then, store those emails in various local folders in maildir format.)
In older versions of kmail, those local folders could be in mbox format (and
optionally, at least in kmail 1.13.7, somehow (sometimes automatically)
convert those folders to maildir format).
I want those local folders to be in mbox format, and I haven't found a way to
do that in 4.14.1, and I assume that it can no longer be done, up through and
including kdepim 18.08.
I am looking for confirmation of that, or instructions on how to set up and
then send / sort emails in kmail to local folders in mbox format.
