FWIW my previous mailer was PMMail on OS/2. Which I really loved, despite it's
shortcomings. :-)

Kmail was the closest I could find on Linux, and over the years I've looked at
Thunderbird, Evolution, Sylpheed/claws, etc, and they all suck by comparison.

A big deal breaker for me is maildir support... having previously been burned
with an mbox (think it was a newsgroup reader on Win 3.1 many years ago), and
seeing windows users have major issues with their "everything in one file"
mail system. From a design point of view that's just screaming for something
to go wrong. At least with maildir, if you get a bad sector, you lose one
file, not the whole mailbox...

Also I prefer to read mail plaintext, with the option to view HTML for those
people (corporates!) that insist on sending everything in HTML sans
plaintext...

View source is also very handy... especially compared to the hoops that
Outlook users have to jump through.

Cheers, Ian
