oh, well, this ist the probably most reocurring bug in kmail:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334583
- has been 'fixed' at least 6 or more times in the past, and then always 
reocurred.
not fixed now, as stated in the mentioned report.
but I'm just tired on commenting on this over and over again.
personally, I have given up trying to use this, I just keep addresses for a 
list in a textfile, from which I copy and paste into composer.
sad, but working.
