[kdepim-users] Sending E-Mail without KMail/Kontact actually running leads to "loss" of E-Mail

I just did a short test following the steps you have listed, and for me, the 
mail appears in my sent folder.

Without having too much time to dig deeper: does the identity from which you 
are sending the mail have a sent folder defined?
