Christophe,
I would encourage you to move one step at a time from KDE 4.8 to 4.9,
and then to 4.10.
I too have OpenSuSE 12.2 and did not want the pain and suffering of 4.4
to 4.7 to 4.8. However after making sure that my default repositories for
KDE were set I made the move.
/Voilà! /Many things that did not work or worked very badly are now
working. Give yourself time, say overnight for the Virtuoso program to
re-index your emails. Just let it run. There is no short cut. However
once it has run its course 4.10 responsiveness is much improved.
If you have been following any of the discussions here you will also
notice that there are some features, in particular the “sync” button for
groupware functionality that is not showing up. To date I cannot find in
the OpenSuSE configuration where to fix this issue. The “rc” files
referred to do not have similar entries and adding them does not correct
the issue. I don’t know if this is an OpenSuSE specific issue.
Bonne chance.
