[kdepim-users] Serious and fatal problems with kontact

Sorry I need to reply like this but I have no mail and for some reason even
with an empty kmail, kmail still seems to fetch mails from gmail (I presume
it is the akonadi service - stopping it now) some remarks

1. my mails are not lost in the sense I no longer have them but kmail does
not show them anymore.

2. I did not upgrade recently.  i lost my mails (again) after regular use.
I upgraded months ago (and IIRC also with issues)

3. four weeks ago or so, when I again lost my mails I did a complete reset
(stop akonadi, remove etc).  I got a blank situation (I get my mails from
gmail -pop).  I did receive mails which got stuck in my new inbox (as
expected since my filters were removed.  I could add a local folder and add
my old mails (currently stored in ~/Mail)  This went till two weeks ago.  I
did shut down my PC (holliday) and when I restarted it ... bam nothing
anymore ... i.e in the listbox of kmail where the folder should reside
(like inbox etc) nothing is shown...  So my local mails I still have (in
~/Mail) but where did my gmail popped mails go to ?

    REMARK : just noticed that my local folders points to a ~/.local/...
folder ... moved it to ~/Mail where my old mail is stored ... when closing
the console ... segfault of akonadi console

4. Ah another problem I have is that when kontact works (so I get mail etc)
but I close contact (click on the 'x' upper right) I get a segfault of
kontact ... fun isn't ?

5. when sending an SMTP message my SMTP server says nothing !!!... the
application HANGS ... forever !!! ... does not return !!! at all !!! so no
error messages no timeout no cannot send mails just a mail window that
hangs around till I kill kontact for the lack of anything better.

so please ... what is going on !!
