I have not used the Netbook Remix, but I have installed both the Gnome and 
KDE desktops on my HP Netbook.  As long as KDE is active, Kontact appears 
to work fine in Gnome -- except for the Contacts application which has been 
broken through several updates.  I've solved that by keeping my contacts on 
my (Android) phone.
