The exact answer depends on the version of KDE you are running.  Under 4.5.x 
you need System Settings > Personal Information > KDE Resources.  Add new 
addressbooks there, and there you can specify which is default.

http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_and_AddressBook has a lot of information that 
will help you make the right decisions.

I would suggest that you look at ~/.local/share/contacts.  If you have lots of 
files there with weird names, they will be individual records of addresses 
(look at one in a text editor).  Usually it is recommended that you make 
Personal Contacts your default addressbook and point it to that directory.  
You can copy and move addresses between addressbooks, and you can have address 
folders with sub-sets of addresses - for instance your default addressbook may 
have all your contents, with folders for family, work, KDE etc.
