This is very interesting. I'm reading from this that KMail2/Akonadi has
actually two storage locations for mail: the "local mail storage" and
the "file cache". This is new to me since KMail1, afaik, only had one
storage location (e.g., for disconnected IMAP at
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/kmail/dimap/ in maildir format).

In this thread I've been talking about the mails (stored as files
without directories) at $HOME/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data/. I
assume this is the Akonadi "file cache". But, if I read you correctly,
the should be another "local mail storage" that stores the mail in
maildir format -- which is just what I want.

So, just to clarify (and feel free to point me to some KMail2/Akonadi
design docs, as I'm just trying to understand how this works): Is there
a "local mail storage" for mail on disconnected IMAP accounts? If so,
where is it located, how can it be configured? Or, if not, is this
combination of "local mail storage" and "file cache" only used for POP
accounts?
