I'm not using IMAP so I might be wrong here, but: if your email is still
on the IMAP server, why would you like to IMPORT it to some other mail client ?
Just point your new mail client to the same IMAP server.
But if you'd like to have all your mails on one client PC (e.g. this is what I do)
also to be your own master of all your data and to be able to backup mails easily,
then you should be able to define a kmail filter rule on the IMAP account which
simply moves all received mails into a local maildir folder (that is: download mail
from server, move mail into maildir folder locally, remove mail from IMAP server)
BTW: to do (automated or manual) backups, have a look at kbackup
