I use KMail with KAddressBook and am able to send to multiple receivers either by typing in the beginning of a part of their name in the To: field or by clicking on the "Select" button to the right of the field. If you've already got an address in the receiver field, the button is at the lowest To: or CC: field. Does that not work for you?
