The database backend for Akonadi changed as of 4.4, so I'm guessing that your
problem is caused by the old database still being on your system. Try the
commands at
http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting#Nepomuk_Indexing_Agents_have_been_Disabled
I know the title is not what you expect, but I think you will find that the
same commands work for you.
