[kdepim-users] What is the status of KPilot?

I had used KPilot for a few years up until the introduction of KDE 4 and
Akonadi. At that point it stopped working for me. I reverted to 3.5.9
which worked for a while but then it, too, stopped working for me.
(It's been a few months so I don't remember the details.)

For the last three or four months I have been using Evolution which is
not ideal but at least it syncs my Treo.

Today I tried again, running KPilot in all sorts of configurations,
including in a clean $HOME with brand new Akonadi resources, but
unsuccessfully: the addressbook gets populated sometimes but calendar
sync is erratic. I also noticed that the Akonadi server does not start
reliably.

So I would like to ask:

-- Are other people using KPilot successfully with KDE 4?

-- Is there a way to disable Akonadi in KDE 4 (as this seems to be
the root cause of the problem)?

My configuration:

  -- Kubuntu Jaunty, KDE 4.3.1

  -- KPilot 4.3.1

Thanks in advance for any insights and help in troubleshooting this.
