hello Pablo&Art,
yes, it is clear that kde apps won't start faster nor behave otherwise when 
run from xfce, and the addidional memory used by the (pre-)loaded librarys may 
be an issue, too.
what I was hoping for (and I'm under the impression, is true) is a little 
faster application/desktop switching.
maybe the same could be achieved by just using another window manager than 
kwin.
