A couple of places you could check - and I'm not sure which one is most 
important.  Try right-click on the calendar name in the bottom left-hand 
panel, and set the save frequency to 'after every change'.  Then in Settings 
> Configure Calendar set an automatic save frequency.  Then make a test entry 
and see if that has solved it.
