in short: yes.
the small crowd of kde pim developers (just look at 
http://dot.kde.org/1206623838/ - the pic shows them) is by nearly 100% 
focused on getting the next generation kde-pim software, based on akonadi, to 
reality.
it is just a question of (lack of) manpower.
