I can confirm Martin’s observation: 

On the server the vcards are OK, UTF-8, all the umlauts and special 
characters are intact. The display in Kaddressbook renders them 
differently. When I repair a certain entry manually (i.e. two 
rectangles -> ü for example), after the next fetching of mail the 
entry is corrupt again.

So: do you think I should write a new bug report or is the one on 
the list sufficient.
