Besides all those crazy crashes, KDEPIM4 has a thing that you will love (at least I dont remember seeing it on 3):
There is a toolbar icon that allows us to refresh the indexs for that folder, removing the need to close KMail, and manually delete the corrupt index. Wonderfull
