To give a few more details:
The old behavior was a hack for making auto-completion work also for
email addresses. In KMail 1.9.9 (or some other version after 1.9.4)
auto-completion was improved so that now it does work for firstname,
lastname, email address and also for the domain name (i.e. the part of
the email address after the '@') without this hack.
