Via Akonadi Console I found two "Notes" entries, one being
akonadi_akonotes_resource_0. I removed both. After removing
akonadi_akonotes_resource_0 flooding .xsession-errors stopped and the CPU usage
went back to normal.

I do remember that at one point I added Notes to emails. An action that I do
very rarely and did not do recently, but a longer time ago. That said I also do
not which ones had them and whether they still have them. In my case, if there
are lost now, it's not a big deal.

However, for a real user of Notes this is probably not a way to go..
