This bug is still occurring.  Kmail 4.10 in OpenSuse 12.3.

I get the following error.  

Unable to fetch item from backend (collection 49) : Unable to retrieve item
from resource: Invalid item retrieved
I thought possibly that it may be the import tool as I had just upgraded to
12.3.  "Import from Archive took many hours" so I did  a simple import mails
and folders.  No difference. and same error although the collection number
keeps rising

It has now gotten so bad that it is rendering Kmail unusable so I am now going
to have to delete all my mail in this installation and start from scratch.
