OK, to describe this a bit more: Start situation is, I have kontact open on the
kmail page, with folder tree, message list of one folder and one e-mail
displayed. I want to pull one message from the message list into one of the
folders displayed on the folder tree.

kde-4.7.97, kdepim-4.7.97, qt-4.7.4 (office desktop)

0) Mouse pointer is arrow.
1) Press mouse button down on message entry.
2) Start dragging. The mouse pointer changes to a hand (NOT displaying a "no
valid target" or "dragging message" indicator).
3) When I move the mouse pointer rapidly I sometimes see the "no valid target"
indicator flickering up. As soon as I stop moving the mouse, I only have a hand
again.
4) I move the mouse pointer on top of the target folder.
5) I release the mouse button. For a short moment, a context-menu-like widget
flickers up with a message similar to "Getting mime info", don't remember
exactly
6) That's it, nothing else happens. Mail stays as it is.

Interestingly, on my home desktop running kmail*1*, I very recently also see
problems- so the bug may not be in kmail directly, but may e.g. have been
introduced somewhere between libkdepim/kdelibs 4.7.85 and 97. Symptoms are
slightly different:

kde-4.7.97, **kdepim-4.4.11.1**, qt-4.7.4 (office desktop)

0) Mouse pointer is arrow.
1) Press mouse button down on message entry.
2) Start dragging. The mouse pointer changes to "dragging mode, no valid
target"
3a) 80% of attempts: When I move the mouse pointer rapidly I sometimes see
"valid drag target" flickering up, but the highlighted drag target is not
exactly below the mouse pointer! As soon as I stop moving the mouse, I only
have a "dragging mode, no valid target" pointer again and cannot drop anywhere.
3b) 20% of attempts: drag and drop works fine
