Also, what kind of resource is your "Local Folders" resource? You can find that
out in the "Agents" tab in akonadiconsole.
Do you have any filters? Might it be that a filter moved the mail to some other
directory you were not expecting?
Do you have expiry enabled (right-click the folder and chose "Expiry")?
Do you delete the trash on exit (Configure KMail->Misc->Folders)?
