IMO this is something fishy (in konsole shell):

$ tail -n1 /etc/profile.d/kde4.sh
KDE_NO_IPV6=1

$ ps
  PID TTY          TIME CMD
11585 pts/40   00:00:00 bash
11647 pts/40   00:00:00 ps

$ printenv |grep KDE
KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
KDE_SESSION_UID=500
KDE_IS_PRELINKED=1
KDEDIRS=/usr
KDE_SESSION_VERSION=4

But might not be related anyway. I'll try adding 'export' to it and see if that
helps.
