You forgot a point in your analysis: the composer window doesn't need KMail to
be running (eg: you can click on a mailto: link, only the composer will start).
You're also able to:
- start KMail,
- Click on the "New Message" button
- Quit KMail.
The composer window will still be there.
I don't see any valid reason for quitting KMail when hitting ctrl-Q since the
application that launches the composer can be anything.
Note that ctrl-Q is not assigned in the composer window. Only ctrl-W will close
it.
