I've maximized my KMail window and now the columns look all scrunched up

This is also annoying if I enter a folder with a lot of messages with really
long subjects or senders.  Ideally, maximizing the window would enlarge those
columns proportionally so that I could see more information.  As it stands, I
have to manually resize them, and when I un-maximize the window they no longer
fit in the display (see: "toobig.png") until I fix them again.
