Summary: Poor notification of error when self-signed certificate
                    of IMAP server changed
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: IMAP
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: cliff.dugal pico ca

Version: unknown (using KDE 3.5.7, compiled sources)
Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.9-desktop-1mdv

I upgraded to Mandriva 2008.0 a few day ago. During the upgrade, the self-signed SSL certificate for Courier IMAP got regenerated (unbeknownst to me).

Following this, I kept on getting "Starting TLS failed" messages pop up from kmail. No other helpful information was given, which was quite frustrating. I didn't even know which IMAP acount was causing the problem.

It turned out that when I finally went to the account setup, and clicked the "Check What the Server Supports", an SSL warning dialogue popped up, asking me if I wanted to accept the certificate permanently, etc. One that was selected, everything worked as expected.

It would have been much more helpful if the SSL warning dialogue had popped up upon discovery of the problem, instead of a generic "Starting TLS failed" message.
