Sorry, I need to correct a detail of my previous posting here. It applies to case 2.1 only:

2.  If first message of a thread containig two messages, then bounced majordomo message
2.1 _does_ appear inline - together with the second message(!) - only if thread is closed,
2.2 does _not_ appear inline if thread is open. Then, however, the second message appears inline when forwarded inline.

Could this be related to some faulty behaviour of multiparted forwarding of a thread? It looks as if case 2.1 is an "inline" version of the option "forward as mime catalogue" (in my German GUI: Weiterleiten als MIME Katalog)
