For a brief description:

"Kdenlive is an intuitive and powerful video editor, released as a free
software (GPL). The application allows you to quickly cut your video
shots, but also includes most recent video technologies and methods to
work on larger professional projects.
Using Kdenlive is investing in a community driven project, which aims to
establish relationships between people in order to build the best video
tools."
