I think you could well go to 2800 € for two months.

I'd postpone this decision ... You can still think about it in case you
get a lot more money :) Maybe also depends on the progress you made etc.

Clapperboards?
Postcard from your country?
Kdenlive stickers? http://uk.moo.com/products/stickers/
Some local speciality? (like we have Swiss Army knives, or edibles)

Sponsors, anyone? I'd like to have a Kdenlive tee as well.
They often have large minimum ... editions? (you know what I mean) like
250 or so. Would be very cool if we could find a sponsor for this. Maybe
we could even get some higher-quality T-shirts (thicker fabric).

I think you'll have enough of work to do with refactoring already!

Didn't we have marketing pros here on the list? :)

Kdenlive is one of the best known video editors for Linux and is
OpenSource (free!). It is aiming towards
professional[?]/semi-professional users [please correct my grammar if
necessary]. Lately a few important features have been added:
* Proxy clips for fluent H.264 editing also on slow machines
* Color scopes for color correction
* [sorry, I'm really not up-to-date :( please add more]

However we found that the architecture of kdenlive – which reaches back
to 2002 – is not up-to-date anymore and discourages new developers to
join our project. Additionally, new features take much longer to
implement and contain more bugs than they should.

This is where your donation jumps in! It will allow Till Theato to give
our source code a shiny new look and set the base for new features like
different timeline views, scripting, a more comfortable titler [if you
really want to touch this part too :)] and [insert all features from the
bug tracker here].

Till will work whole May and June on Kdenlive.

Just a suggestion (which took me ages to write). RFC. :)
