I can agree with you that USA may not be the best example of democracy at the 
moment. Also, my background is not US democracy :-) . 

But I do still believe that democracy is the lesser evil of the governing 
forms we have today... And for this, a truly free press (not more or less free 
and not ruled by the need to sell paper copies) is vital. Actually, we are all 
better off with a free press.

Regarding piracy: Is it not better to use a free version than use a pirated 
version?
