NSeries seems kind of vague. If you refer to N810, I know it support
resolutions other than CIF. Probably the smart phones have more
limitations.

The only problems related to aspect handling might be undesired
padding. For example, if the project was set to widescreen and you
render to something 4:3, it will be letterboxed.

Yes, it can set the resolution and aspect using s=WxH and aspect=@4/3
or similar.
