Hi all
I am playing around with mantis, trying to make it more usuable to our needs
(as I see them - feel free to correct me).
I will try to create some kind of policy/workflow suggestion for mantis one of
these days for the list to discuss. The basic idea is to offload jb (and Dan)
for as much non-coding related work as possibly, and my current idea for the
workflow is like this:
new - all bugs start here
feedback - if initially the bug can not be confirmed
acknowledged - problem confirmed, bug contains enough information to reproduce
(assigned - a developer has accepted the bug and will work on fixing it)
closed - bug is closed (fixed and tested, unable to reproduce, no changes,
can't duplicate, etc)
In the ideal world, jb would only have to relate to the acknowledged issues,
and would always pick the one with the most impact on the progress of
Kdenlive development. So, some sort of prioritizing should be involved too.
Which brings me to the next point:
One of the things I have done today is to add two new versions, "0.7.0"
and "0.7.1". These are intended to be used for "Target version".
I have then taken the liberty to set the target version for the two bugs that
are known not to be implemented before 0.7.1 to that (surprise). However,
more far reaching (and probably subject to change), I have set the target
version for all acknowledged bugs to "0.7.0". This shows up on the "roadmap"
in mantis, take a look at: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/roadmap_page.php
The closed bugs for 0.7.0 are bugs reported after 6/10 and now closed. (Had to
make a cut somewhere - far more bugs have been closed after 6/10, but not
reported after that date).
I hope this can be useful for jb, but to keep it useful (finally, the real
point of this post), please set a target version for any bugs you acknowledge
in mantis. That way, the mantis roadmap stays current, and reassures the
reporters that a fix is in the works. A guideline could be that critical or
trivially implementable stuff gets a target version of 0.7.0, while
non-trivial features and non-critical stuff gets 0.7.1. This in the light of
October soon ending, and the 0.7.0 version to be released soon.
Regards
Mads
