I think I will first try to make a 0.6 release of Kdenlive that is still based 
on KDE3. 

The next (0.7) Kdenlive version will be based on KDE4 but won't have many new 
features. I am currently working on it and the main concern is to improve the 
UI to make it nicer and include some nice ideas like dragging a clip's corner 
to crossfade and that kind of small details that are nice to have. But the 
KDE4 version means rewriting a lot of code, so the first release will most 
likely not have a lot of new features.

Once the porting will be done, the titler could easily be improved and include 
options like object transparencies. Porting the MLT QImage producer to QT4 
should also allow for new effects like cropping, rotation, etc.
