I did it last night, should be available in cvs now. It will not entirely fix 
your problem, but at least, instead of crashing kdenlive, you should see a 
message box saying the video clip is not compatible with kdenlive.

Maybe you should check your mlt install. It did configure it with the 
"--enable-gpl" flag, because otherwise it doesn't install some of the 
libs....

If you need some mlt compatible files, the following play fine for me:

very small (300K) silent mpegs at:

PS: regarding the indentation, I think the best would be to correctly indent 
all the files in the project and then make one big commit with all the new 
indentations. That way we can start with a clean base...
