sure. there is MUCH to be done ;-)

piave knows two types of plugins: IO plugins and effect plugins. There are 
just a few basic plugins and many of the effects don't work in the current 
setting. 

For effects: it is manly a question of video formats. in the first version of 
piave, when there was not yet kdenlive, I used RGB for the pic-in-pic or 
title effects. This is ugly slow (but was quick to implement) and the rest of 
the piave framework doesn't even support RGB anymore. So the 'textmaster' 
plugin would probably be one of the first plugins that needs to be fixed for 
YUV colorspace.

For io plugins: we badly need support for at least mpeg2 input/output. 
preferrably with ffmpeg or gstreamer I think. but libmpeg2 might do.
