The sync problem is almost definitely going to be because we are running piave
through artsdsp at the moment. It's definitely something that needs to be
fixed, but I am unsure as to how easy it will be.

ok., I'll run with those and get back to you by the weekend, hopefully ;-)

I guess we need a way to specify whether the action goes to the timeline &
workspace monitor (which should always be in sync), or to the clip monitor. I
hope that this is a simple issue of knowing which monitor is currently the
active monitor, but I'll have to look into it a little more to find out.

Well, allowing the user to define his own keys for predefined actions is one
thing (and should be quite easy). To allow the user to define his own actions
is quite a bit more challenging, we have to start thinking about scripting
languages. Now, whilst I think scripting should definitely be added in the
future, I don't think we are anywhere near ready to start implementing it
now.
We have to leave something for Kdenlive 2.0, after all ;-)
